March 19, 2017 – A View from the Rectory Window

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.

Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen.       -St. Augustine

Welcome Bishop Sullivan!

On Monday, March 20, at 5pm the Parish family of Saint Maximilian Kolbe joyfully welcomes and thanks Bishop Dennis Sullivan for conferring the Sacrament of Confirmation on fifty-eight young women and men of our parish family.

Our Holy Father, Pope Francis reminds us that the Sacrament of Confirmation, “Unites us more firmly to Christ . . . it strengthens our relationship with the Church and it gives us a special strength from the Holy Spirit to defend the faith and confess the name of Christ in our mission of bearing daily witness to Christ and his love.”

For those to be confirmed, I offer Pope Francis’ encouragement that they would “thank the Lord for the grace of our Confirmation,” and “that, filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, we may always mirror Christ’s presence in our relations with others, our openness to those in need, and our living witness to the Gospel message of joy and peace.”
