May 22, 2016 – A View From the Rectory Window

I ask your help.

Each Mass, in the back of Saint Casimir’s and in the gathering area of the Church of the Resurrection, staffed by volunteers, are our gift card tables.  You have seen them.  Perhaps you have walked past them unsure what they are about.

These gift cards work for you and for our parish .

If you purchase through our Parish Gift Card program it is the same as purchasing a gift card from any store or restaurant without any service charge or additional fees incurred by you.  For example, if you purchase a $50 Shoprite gift card, you pay $50 and your gift card is worth $50.  If, at the time of your purchase at Shoprite you use less than the $50, the merchant marks your remaining balance on the card.  No money is lost to you.

Our parish receives a discount when we purchase a larger quantity of gift cards from our local merchants.  Every time you purchase a gift card, the Parish of Saint Maximilian Kolbe receives that small discount.  With your help, it adds up, at no cost to you.

For your convenience, at the Church of the Resurrection, you can use credit cards.  This enables you to get your usual credit card privileges.  The parish is charged a fee for this type of transaction.  For this reason, if you have been purchasing your gift cards with cash or checks we would ask you to continue to do so in this manner.  As we train volunteers, we will be bringing credit card ability to Saint Casimir as well.

Gift cards are sold after every Mass and in the Parish Office each day.

Currently, the merchants who participate in our Gift Card program are the following:

Acme, The Crab Trap, Island Shore Chinese in Marmora, Asian Shore Chinese in Ocean View, L’s Restaurant, Mama Mia’s,  Reflections Hair Salon, Shoprite, Soprano’s and the Tuckahoe Inn.

Mother Teresa famously remarked, “Not all of us can do great things.  But we can do small things with great love.”  Your participation in this little effort of ours’ enables our parish to continue to do many things with great love.  Please help me in this regard.

I thank you for all you already do for so many and I thank you in advance for considering my request.

Fr. Pete
