October 9, 2016 – A View from the Rectory Window

‘Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers,

for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.’

Hebrews 13:2

I write to ask for your assistance.  The number of events that occur in our parish where we seek to provide hospitality are growing.  To share the load, I’d like to create three Hospitality Groups to assist in providing hospitality throughout the year:

  1. Hospitality Group – for various receptions for ongoing parish activities throughout the year. (approximately 12-15 times per year)
  1. Weekend Hospitality Group – for Hospitality Sunday in the pavilion on the mornings of the 1st Sunday

of the month.  (12 Sunday mornings during the year)

  1. Summer Hospitality – (Social Committee) for the Annual Parish Feast.  (once a year)

If you could assist me in one of these groups, I ask you to contact the office, 609-390-0664 and we can plan together to ‘entertain angels’

Within this view, I also provide you with a summary fiscal accounting of our parish for the fiscal year  July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016 finance-presentation-st-max-kolbe-jul-15-through-jun-16.  I also make available for your consideration, some of the efforts of our parishioners to care for those who are in need of spiritual, emotional, and/or physical assistance 2016-spiritual-report.  It would not be possible to present the full scope of our efforts in one summary sheet.  For this reason, I ask pardon of those who may feel that their efforts went unnoticed or unacknowledged.  At the same time, I trust that our efforts are not done to win the praise of others, but rather, are in response to all that God has given us.

The Parish Finance Council, the Parish Pastoral Council and I have sought to be prudent stewards of the resources entrusted to our care.  You can read about these efforts in greater detail in the Pastoral Council Minutes found on our parish website at http://saintmaxkolbe.com/parish-council-minutes/.  I know that transparency in this regard is one of our foremost obligations to you.  I hope this brief report reflects our intention to be faithful to this obligation.

In seeking to follow our obligation to be transparent, I invite you on Thursday, October 13 at 7pm, in the extension of the Church of the Resurrection, to meet with representatives of the Pastoral Council and    Parish Finance Council, to ask any questions you may have in regard to this report.

I again thank you for all that you do to ensure that our parish family strives to make a return to the Lord for His goodness to us and that our expressions of faith befit what we profess and believe.

Saint Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us.

Father Pete
