September 25, 2016 – A View from the Rectory Window

One of my favorite elements of the Upper Township Gazette is the section entitled, ‘Travels with the Gazette’.  Perhaps it is time for a new column in our parish bulletin entitled, ‘Travels with SMK’?  For example, recently I invited our parishioners to attach our parish logo to their cars with the expressed purpose of having every car in the parking lot at Shop Rite bearing this symbol.  Not long after, Christian emailed me the following picture with the assurance that he was on his way to Shop Rite.

The next picture might be hard to beat.  No, it is not photoshopped.  Yes, it is our parish logo, brought by our parishioners to the Vatican for the canonization of Saint Teresa of Calcutta!

I welcome any of your pictures from your travels with our symbol.

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?  When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’  Matthew 25:37-40

How often Father Mark Cavagnaro fed, invited, clothed and visited us in his twelve years as the pastor of the Church of the Resurrection.  How often in his priestly ministry did we recognize the presence of the Lord.  Now I invite you to join us on Tuesday, October 4, 6:30pm in welcoming Father Mark back to Cape May County as  pastor of Saint Brendan the Navigator Parish.  Father Mark will celebrate Mass for us again and light refreshments will follow in the pavilion.  Let us welcome Father Mark recalling the Lord’s words; “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.”  Matthew 10:40
