April 10, 2016- A View From the Rectory Window

Jubliee of Mercy

Saint Maximilian Kolbe parishioners are going on pilgrimage.

Departure:  Church of the Resurrection, Wednesday, April 27, 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Through:  ‘Holy Doors’, Our Lady Star of the Sea, Cape May

Cost:  Prayers for the Holy Father and donation (to be determined) for cost of bus and meal

Destination:  Heaven

Pope Saint John Paul II stated that the Holy Door, “…evokes the passage from sin to grace which every Christian is called to accomplish.”   Jesus said, ‘I am the door’ (John 10:7) in order to make it clear that no one can come to the Father except through Him.

Therefore to pass through the Holy Door is to pass from this world into the presence of God.  To pass through the door is to confess with firm conviction that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Lord, and the Savior who suffered, died, and rose for our salvation.   With great courage, a person freely decides to cross the threshold leaving behind the kingdom of this world so as to enter the new life of grace of the Kingdom of God.

In announcing the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis proclaims, “the Holy Door will become a Door of Mercy through which anyone who enters will experience the love of God who consoles, pardons, and instills hope”.   These doors are symbols of God’s mercy, open to welcome everyone into the compassion of God’s love that Christ proclaimed.
